Why is entrepreneurship important?

Historically, entreprenurship and innovation have been critical to economic growth. While generally considered positive, according to Investopedia "the link between entrepreneurship and improving welfare is also complicated influenced by factors such as regional population, entrepreneurship density, and the specific industry in which the entrepreneurial activity is taking place..."
For the past several decades there has been increased emphasis of applying entreprenurial approaches to the nonprofit or social sector.
Entreprenurship is as much a mindset as anything else. The entrepreneurial mindset enbables people to identify and make the most of opportunities, overcome and learn from setbacks, and succeed in a variety of settings. (Source) Given this framing, it's clear that having an entrepreneurial mindset is valuable to the nonprofit or social sector.
